On Malaysian Protests Against Israel Aggression in Gaza

We should be concerned about the plight of the residents of Gaza; not because we profess the same faith but because we are all of one race - the human race.

I have seen pictures of the demonstration that was staged in Kuala Lumpur today. I am horrified to say the least. There was a picture of a young girl, probably about seven, wearing a children's tudung labuh and a green headband with some Arabic script printed on it (I can't read what it says). Why was I horrified? Because she was carrying a toy rifle.

So maybe the overbearing, irrational political correctness of the UK has gotten to me but what is the message that the child's parents are teaching her? That it is OK to use violence against others. Someone's wrongs legitimises the use of violence? An eye for an eye? A dead child for a dead child? I had toy guns when I was young, and I enjoyed playing with them. I guess in those days people were desensitised towards weapons. Not sure if it's just me but have you realised, you don't see that many toy guns nowadays? Then again, kids these days wouldn't play imaginary games that they make up themselves using their creative faculties but would rather sit in front of the computer/PS3/Wii shooting virtual enemies.

But I was talking about the protests. Who organises them? Why do they organise them? Are they to distract us from the bigger issues happening in our own country? We have our own local timebombs ticking away that need defusing. And the calls for a boycott of American and Israeli goods? I don't think I have ever had the opportunity to purchase Israeli goods in Malaysia or seen any on sale (though I have bought coriander here in England from Sainsbury's and noted that it said on the packet "Country of origin: Israel"). Mahathir and other 'leaders' (along with their hordes of Yes-Men) who would like us to be distracted from other issues are calling for the boycott of McDonalds and KFC and other 'American' companies rather than coming up with plausible, rational, workable solutions to the tense situation. Last I checked, the Malaysian McDonalds and KFC outlets are 100 per cent fully Malaysian owned. It is likely that they source most of the ingredients for their products locally. It is also safe to say that their employees are almost 100 per cent local. Now who is gonna get hurt?

Malaysian politicians think too highly of themselves. The US doesn't really care if we boycott their companies. They can see through the smoke and mirrors. Who're the big foreign investors in Malaysia? American companies! Intel is probably the largest single employer of most of the engineers in Penang. Practically everyone knows a relative or friend who works or has worked for them.

I can imagine the US govt saying to Malaysia, "Does your government want to be funny and really boycott our products? Oh, alright then. We shall pull out all our investment in your country. And boom goes the Malaysian economy. Or rather, bust.

Anyway, if anyone really wants to boycott all American and Israeli goods then it is a near impossible task (does it include boycotting all inventions and technology produced by Americans and Jews?). Think about it. Here's one simple example - you shouldn't use a computer because the hardware and/or the software definitely contains some element produced by the evil Zionist supporting Americans.

Malaysians, stop being sheep. Wake up and realise that you're being led to the slaughterhouse.
